The biggest problem is that in the US when they decriminalized the drugs, they decriminalized all the negative behavior that comes with doing those drugs. It's one thing to say that you're not going to arrest and jail people for the drugs, but it's another to say that you can destroy the city and its inhabitants' quality of life with impunity. If you poop on the streets, there should be consequences. If you steal to feed your habit, you should be prosecuted as a thief. I'm not sure why so many people are for deciminalizing drugs in the first place. They do not make your life better. There's no freedom in addiction. I've worked with hundreds of recovering addicts, and no one has ever regretted getting clean - they only regretted not getting clean sooner.
